Performance Introduction

Leachate from garbage is the wastewater that results from the moisture contained in the garbage itself, the rainwater and snowwater that enters the landfill, and other water sources. After deducting the saturated water holding capacity of the garbage and the soil layer, and after passing through the garbage layer and the soil layer, it becomes a highly concentrated wastewater. 

Garbage leachate is a highly concentrated organic wastewater with complex composition, high pollutant concentration, high color intensity and strong toxicity. It is a recognized challenge in the water treatment industry. It not only contains a large amount of organic pollutants, but also various heavy metal pollutants. If garbage disposal is improper, it will not only affect the quality of surface water, but also endanger the safety of groundwater.

Source of wastewater

The sources of landfill leachate mainly include four aspects: 

1. The garbage itself contains water. 

2. Water generated from the biochemical decomposition of garbage; 

3. Reverse osmosis of underground groundwater; 

4. Atmospheric precipitation. 

Among them, atmospheric precipitation is characterized by concentration, short duration and recurrence, accounting for the majority of the total amount of leachate. If it is discharged onto the surface, pollutes the environment or dissolves into the ground, it poses a great threat to the urban environment and human health. Moreover, the longer the landfill lasts, the higher the concentration of the leachate will be and the greater the hazard will be.

Conventional methods for wastewater treatment
