Glass manufacturing enterprises are major water consumers. The water consumption in the glass processing industry mainly occurs in the pre-treatment process, including water used for grinding, drilling, cooling, and washing. The wastewater generated during the pre-treatment process contains a large amount of glass silica powder as well as a small amount of silica powder, diamond grit, cutting kerosene, cleaning agents, citric acid, oils, SS, fluorine and heavy metals.

The water consumption in the glass processing industry mainly occurs in the pre-treatment process, including water used for grinding, drilling, cooling, and washing. The wastewater generated during the pre-treatment process contains a large amount of glass silica powder as well as a small amount of silica powder, diamond grit, cutting kerosene, cleaning agents, citric acid, oils, SS, fluorine, and heavy metals. At present, the physical-chemical method is widely used in the treatment of glass grinding wastewater. 

1. The grinding wastewater generated at the water point is collected in a dedicated raw water tank. The size of the tank is determined by the hourly water consumption. Generally, the capacity is set to be 2 to 4 times the hourly water consumption. Compressed air stirring is also installed at the bottom of the tank to prevent impurities in the wastewater from forming sediment at the bottom of the tank, which could cause pump blockage and affect production. 

2. Drug addition process: The wastewater in the raw water tank is pressurized and lifted by a slurry pump to the raw water metering tank. Then, it flows naturally into the mixing reaction tank by gravity. The purpose of setting up the raw water metering tank is to measure the flow rate of the wastewater, in order to control the dosage of the drug and ensure the effect of the glass grinding water treatment. From this perspective, the metering tank is the core of the entire water treatment system. The quality of water treatment depends on it. 

3. The turbidity of the effluent from the filtration and sedimentation tank is between 5 and 20 mg/L. The effluent passes through a filtration tank filled with quartz sand and anthracite for filtration, ensuring the turbidity to be below 2 mg/L. The effluent from the sedimentation tank enters the reclaimed water tank. Subsequently, the water in the reclaimed water tank can be lifted to the water usage point by a water pump for use. This process continuously repeats.
