Environmental Challenges in the Food and Beverage Industry: The Path to Resource Utilization for Waste Beverages and Dairy Product Wastewater
In the production, storage and distribution processes of food and beverages, a large amount of liquid waste such as discarded carbonated beverages, expired milk, and sugary drinks is inevitably generated. This type of wastewater has characteristics such as high sugar content, high COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand), high BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand), and easy spoilage. If it is directly discharged or improperly treated, it will seriously pollute the water body and cause waste of available components.
The traditional biochemical treatment methods often fail to cope with such high organic loads and are unable to recover the valuable components within them. The mechanical vapor recompression (MVR) evaporation crystallization technology thus provides an efficient, thorough and sustainable solution path for this problem.
Advantages of the Baihuipu MVR Evaporation Zero-Emission System:
Efficient concentration, achieving "zero discharge": The system evaporates and condenses the water in the wastewater into high-quality distilled water (with an reuse rate of over 95%), while concentrating soluble substances such as sugars, proteins, and salts to supersaturated levels, eventually crystallizing and precipitating solid substances. The entire process achieves zero liquid waste discharge.
2. Resource Recovery, Turning Waste into Treasure: The produced distilled water can be used for cleaning and cooling in the factory area, reducing fresh water consumption. The concentrated crystalline substances can be sold as raw materials (such as sugar, protein powder base materials) or disposed of safely, achieving resource utilization.
3. Strong adaptability and reliability: In response to the acidic nature and gas production issues of carbonated beverage wastewater, as well as the tendency of milk wastewater to form scale and produce foam, Baohupu has carried out targeted material selection and process design (such as anti-scaling, defoaming, and corrosion resistance) to ensure the long-term stable operation of the system.
4. Ultra-energy-efficient, low operating cost: The MVR technology recycles the latent heat of steam, with the main energy consumption being electricity. Compared to traditional multi-effect evaporation, it can save 60% to 90% of energy, significantly reducing the wastewater treatment operating costs of enterprises.
Southeast Asian Market Practice: Successful Export to Malaysia
With its professional technology in this field, Baihuipu has successfully exported a complete set of MVR evaporation zero-emission system to Malaysia. This system is used to treat the expired wastewater from mixed beverages and dairy products of local large-scale food enterprises. The project adopts a compact design, which adapts to the limited site conditions of the customers and fully meets the strict environmental protection regulations of the local area.
This system not only solved the environmental problems of the customers, but also achieved considerable economic benefits through water reuse and waste reduction, becoming a model of "win-win situation between environmental benefits and economic benefits".
